Scenario: you've got a small private airplane, something like a Cessna, which you like flying to distant places (you don't use a small private aircraft to go round the neighborhood anyway). Once at a remote airport, you're stuck there. Airports generally are not in a city, so you're not exactly in walking distance from whatever you came to see. So you'll need to get a taxi, which will prove difficult, or rent a car, which is going to be even more difficult in many cases. MotorcyclePilot has the solution for you. They are building a pod that attaches below your airplane. The pod will hold a small supermoto style motorcycle. So when you go on your trip, load your motorcycle into the pod (some mechanical work needs to be done, like removing your front wheel), using an electric drill winch the pod to your airplane (you'd better make sure that the pod is secure), and at the destination, remove the pod. Now you've got transportation at the other end. Nice and easy... Of course there are some limitations. You can't use your own motorcycle, you need the custom made Yamaha motorcycle from MotorcyclePilot. So if you want to take your Harley-Davidson or Honda Goldwing on your airplane trip, better start thinking about buying a private Boeing 747. Flying private airplanes is not cheap. Though no final price is known as off yet, expect between US$8-10,000 for the pod and motorcycle. If you're not convinced, have a look at the video below: Video: Motorcycle Airplane Pod (3 minutes 30 seconds) So there you go! You can now fly your private airplane to a remote destination and not worry how you're going to get around when you've arrived. The site is taking deposits for those of you interested.
