American insurance company, Allstate did a survey of 500 male motorcycle riders, and the results are not that surprising... Almost all surveyed said they'd give up their spouse before they'd give up their motorcycle....(I suspect that the spouse could not see the survey, and that the responses are anonymous ). They also surveyed what kind of a biker the survey participant was, choices being Sports Bike Enthusiast, Stressed Out Executive, Hardcore Biker or Weekend Warrior. The majority could not identify themselves with one of these, but most called themselves "Baby Boomer Riders". No surprise here, the vast majority had at least one Harley-Davidson in the garage (30% had a Honda), and spend an average of $20,600 on the bike, and $2,250 on accessories. 70% of the riders take their motorcycle out once a week, and 45% of this group even rode several times per week. 78% of the motorcycle riders thought "riding is more fun". Other answers included good old faithful "the feeling of freedom" or "the way it makes them feel free". Interesting, 63% stated that the fuel economy is the top reason why they ride bikes. More than 50% of the surveyed attend motorcycle rallies, with Sturgis the most attended. One in Five riders belongs to a riding club. 2/3 of the riders use the motorcycle to ride to work, which is interesting since only 45% stated taking the motorcycle out more than once a week (so maybe they worked at home...). As for useless information, the most popular road songs for cruising are: 1. “Born to be Wild,” Steppenwolf 2. “Radar Love,” Golden Earring 3. “Take it Easy,” the Eagles 4. “Born to Run,” Bruce Springsteen 5. “Freebird,” Lynyrd Skynyrd So there you go, now you have all the fact, thanks to Allstate.
