After receiving a fine for excessive noise {link}, the old and famous motorcycle race circuit, known for the TT of Assen, has decided to scrap many of the programmed races. A total of 20 races so far have been deleted.

This in a time that authorities around the world are trying to move people to use race circuits in order to get their adrenaline fix, the Dutch authorities are doing the opposite.

The strange thing is that most of the scrapped races and circuit days are run by motorcycles fitted with standard pipes, not race pipes. In other words, the Dutch people who now live around a race circuit that has been there before they were even borne, are complaining about noise from motorcycles that are street legal!

Imagine... street legal motorcycles are not allowed to ride the famous circuit because they make too much noise!!!

What have the Dutch authorities been smoking?? Smoking Joint Smiley

I think it's scandalous that the authorities can do such things. Shortly you'll find that there will be no more MotoGP or SuperBike at the TT-Assen. They've won the first main battle, the war is almost over in Holland.

Personally, I think that the TT-Assen Open link in a new window folks have been a bit to lazy in defending themselves as well. They could fight harder, but they caved in.....
