A lot of ink (and bytes) have been written about the purchase of Ducati motorcycles. Volkswagen and Hero have both been mentioned a lot, but one serious contender has entered the market and are in discussions with the Italian motorcycle maker. And the potential buyer is Audi , the German car maker. Reported in the source (see below Via), Audi has already made a deal with Ducati, giving them an exclusive right-of-refusal deal. Ducati is up for sale for the nice round price tag of 1 Million Euros, but according to the source, that's not what they'll pay. They are looking at putting down a reasonable 100 million, taking over all Ducati's liabilities, and the rest will be shares. The current agreement with Audi will last until mid April. If they don't buy the brand, then it'll be open for bids from others. As far as the acquisition goes, Audi could make an idea partner for Ducati. Audi are known as an technology innovative company, as is Ducati. Using German know-how in automotive technology will see interesting improvements within the Italian brand.
