Baja Morocco 2012 - A New Motorcycle Race |

Building on the name and style of the famous Baja races held in North America, and their own successful OiLibya Rally of Morocco  , the organizers (NPO ) have created the Baja du Maroc race.
The 3 day event is styled after the Baja 500 event, meaning you don't need roadbooks, just skill, endurance and money to participate. The race is held in the Southern part of Morocco, with the famous Ouarzazate  city in the middle (where the movie studies are). It's where you get to ride your motorcycle in the real Sahara desert, with vast stretches of sand, and more importantly; DUNES. The race is reserved exclusively for motorcycles and quads.
In total during the three days, you'll be riding some 500 kilometers. The race is held between the 14th and 16th of October 2012. At this stage of the calendar, it'll cost you some €1200 to participate, plus transportation and accommodation (they have discounted rates for this).
The funny thing is that NPO, the organizers, also organize the OiLibya Rally of Morocco (the second largest rally after the Dakar), which runs from 14 to 20 October, intersecting with their own Baja race.
In order to accommodate racers who want to participate in both, they have a category for the Oilibya race that allows you to enter right after you have participate in the Baja race (if your motorcycle is still alive). Bit strange...
