Today is the 14th of July, in other words Bastille Day - the French national holiday.
It's the day in 1789 that the French decided that the upper crust were walking too tall in their shoes, and made them slightly shorter by removing their heads. ... interesting concept. It might still apply..... role out the guillotine..
It's usually a day that every self-respecting village, town or city has celebrations, from 2 people parades to full scale invasion armies (like the one in Paris).
So I've taken the day off, and am riding around the villages on my trusty Ducati motorcycle to see what's happening.
I've done the Paris parade many times, so that's one area I'll avoid (though this year the Republican Guard , photo below, are out in mass on their motorcycles for the parade). Hopefully there will be interesting stuff going on in the country.
At the very least, I should be able to pick up a speeding ticket...
