The Belgium government may be in ruins due to the struggle between Flemish and French speakers, but it hasn't stopped them from starting a new experiment. The calculation of your average speed on a certain portion of the road. Already used extensively in The Netherlands, the Belgium powers are placing as off next year special cameras around the Gentbrugge Viaduc (bridge). Two cameras, placed miles away from each other, will be continuously making digital photos of all traffic. A central computer will be analyzing the license plates of the motorcycles and cars, and then look at the time stamp. By subtracting the first photo time from the 2nd photo time, they'll know exactly what your average speed was. So even if you see the camera, by slamming the brakes, you'll still get fined since they're not looking at your current speed but your average speed. No escaping. Boy, it's getting harder to ride here in Europe.
