It's not going good in terms of motorcycle exhibitions. First of all, it's not the Intermot year, since the Germany motorcycle exhibition is held every two years and they were on last year. This year it was the turn of the Paris Mondial exhibition, but it got cancelled because the main manufacturers started cancelling, one by one. The only big motorcycle exhibition left this year is the Milan, Italy based EICMA , which happens to be the biggest one in the world. Last year, 1022 exhibitors from 33 countries showed off their products on 54,000 m2 of space, with 505,000 visitors. And now the two main Japanese motorcycle manufacturers have let it be known that they will not be attending. Honda and Yamaha will not be present at EICMA. That's bad news, really bad news. The two biggest motorcycle manufacturers in the world not attending! The other main manufacturers have registered. The likes of Aprilia, BMW, Ducati, Suzuki, Kawasaki, KTM, Triumph and Harley-Davidson have sent in the paperwork to attend...but...is the credit crunch going to make them withdraw shortly. I don't need to remind you that all manufacturers are suffering now. Most motorcycle manufacturers survived the initial months of the economic downturn with flying colors, but now they too are being hit in the pockets. Big exhibitions like EICMA usually have the top manufacturers, but also 100's of small companies from all over the world. These small companies have been hit the hardest, so we'll not see many of these. Last year, there were 1022 motorcycle companies present. Let's see how many there are this year. I am just hoping and praying that they will not cancel EICMA, since it's the last big motorcycle show. EICMA is to be held 12 to 15 November in Milan, Italy. I hope to see you there... I will be present...
