There are a couple of these devices around, so it's not a novelty, but these folks have a slightly different setup. BikeBug is a GPS locator device that's so tiny that it can be stored almost anywhere on your motorcycle. It measures 40mm x 34mm x 13mm (that's 1.5 inch x 1.3 inch x 0.5 inch) and weighs only 50 grams (1.7 ounces). The unit uses GPS and GSM for positioning information, and can be programmed to report regularly via GPRS or SMS. You can monitor where your motorcycle is via the web or via your mobile phone. Geofence You can program a virtual fence (for example your backyard, or your company's parking lot), and when your motorcycle leaves that area, it will dial up and report that your bike is no longer where it should be. If you want to, you can even dial in to your BikeBug and listen to what people are saying (or listen to the roar of your engine while it speeds away). The unit is equipped with a quad band GSM, so even if the motorcycle is taken out of the country, it'll work. The unit is waterproof, so don't worry if it rains (or if the thieves dump your motorcycle in a lake). You can hard wire your unit to your motorcycle, or use the rechargeable battery (lasts 4 days on standby). Web Tracking Like other units, BikeBug offers a web tracking facility. You get 1000 reporting 'units' per month for free when you buy the BikeBug, for 12 months. After that you need to pay £20 per year. Price: £249 Now, if your motorcycle gets stolen, you can find out where it is, and go there with some buddies, and "recover" your bike. Click here for more information (thanks Lee Walkey)
