Going blind is a major obstacle for most people. It prevents you from enjoying things you used to do when you were able to see. Foremost would be riding a motorcycle. Apart from one or two people, not many continue riding motorcycle when they become blind {link}.

Becoming blind didn't stop Bud Surber from enjoying motorcycles the way he used too. Not only did he want to ride a motorcycle despite being blind, but he also wanted to build one. Before he lost his sight, Bud used to ride and tinker on motorcycles.

So, armed with his previous knowledge, he set out to build a special Harley motorcycle for himself. His revised Harley-Davidson has two seats, and it has two sets of controls. Bud can ride the bike, but his passenger/co-rider has control over steering and braking. Bud controls the clutch, shifter and throttle.

This way, Bud can still ride his motorcycle, like the song goes "with a little help of my friends". Losing his sight didn't end Bud's dreams of riding his motorcycle.

Respect! Thumb Up Smiley
