This is the book that was the basis of the successful movie with the same name. It's a real diary, or more notes on the adventure trip that the famous, or notorious, Ernesto Che Guevara made on a Norton motorcycle. In fact, he didn't get very far on the Norton, so calling it Motorcycle Diaries is a stretch of the imagination. I got the book, because the movie was very compelling. However.... the book is a very slow read. It's a translation into English, which doesn't help, but Guevara's mind is not an easy understanding. Remember, this guy went on to help Castro overthrow the powers of Cuba. The book does show you why Guevara, a medical doctor, turned to revolutions and communism; all the poverty and abuse he saw on his trips were enough to drive him to the "dark side". As books go, this one does not appear on my favorites list. It's a tough read. Maybe for intellectual readers....I'm sticking to the movie.
