Siemens Electric Charging Station Motorcycle
In Brussels, Belgium companies need to pay a tax for employee and customer parking. The tax is €5 per m2 and since the average parking space is 15 m2, this means a tax of €75 per parking per year. (note: crazy idea, but I guess it's one way of getting money into the city's bank accounts. In Brussels, this tax represents €2 million per year).

In order to promote the use of electric cars and motorcycles you need to ensure that there are sufficient charging stations around, even in private parking areas like those of companies. Let's face it, if you want to ride your electric motorcycle to work, but can't charge it there, then chances are you'll not use the e-bike to go to work.

Brussels has offered companies an exoneration of their parking taxes if they install charging stations. Obviously the tax removal is only for those parking spots that have a charging station.

Unfortunately the math ain't there. Charging stations cost a lot more than the €75 you'll save per spot per year, even if you look at a multiple years ROIReturn On Investment. The concept of an investment of some resource yielding a benefit to the investor. A high ROI means the investment gains compare favorably to investment cost. As a performance measure, ROI is used to evaluate the efficiency of an investment or to compare the efficiency of a number of different investments. In purely economic terms, it is one way of considering profits in relation to capital invested.. But let's hope it'll be an additional incentive for companies to invest in charging stations.
