Burt Munro, immortalized by Anthony Hopkins' Hollywood movie "The Fastest Indian", customized several motorcycles during his lifetime. It wasn't just the one you could see in the movie (an Indian Scout Invercargill). He, and his mate Duncan Meikle, worked on several race drag motorcycles. One of them, a 1936 Velocette Drag Bike, had been produced in a very limited series, 10 to be exact. The Velocette was used by Burt Munro at Invercargill’s Teretonga race circuit. The motorcycle was able to speed up to 250 kph, and Neil Neilson used it to break the land-speed record for 500 cc bikes. This radical motorcycle was sold at an auction for NZ$71,000 (about US$38,000) to a KiwiA person from New Zealand. motorcycle collector. So the motorcycle stays in New Zealand! Lucky them... a piece of motorcycle history.
