Most celebrities have money, it's no secret. Some have so much money, they don't know what to do with it. Some waste the surplus cash, but some put it to good use. One really good use is putting the money in a racing team. Racing costs a lot of money, and running a team competitively is not easy when you can't pay for good engines, tires and umbrella girls. Once a celeb decides to sponsor a team, not only does the team get hard needed money, but also the media starts taking notice of the team. And with media attention, you get sponsors, which means more money, whih means better bikes and riders. It also means that young riders have better chances to get a seat in racing. We all know what good Paul Newman (Newman-Haas Racing ) did when he started his own (car) race team! His team became one of the top teams. And there's also David Letterman, co-owner of Bobby Rahal Racing Team . A lot of sport and movie celebs are moving into motorcycle racing. The cost of running a motorcycle racing team is less than car racing, so it's a good way of getting your feet wet and for indulging in your passion. Basketball legend Michael Jordan with Team 23 entered the AMA SuperBike and SuperStock competitions and his riders did well. Dutch soccer star, Clarence Seedorf launched his Seedorf 125 MotoGP racing team in 2003 and had pretty good results. He has had young riders race for him which went on to do good things, like Alvaro Bautista and Hector Barbera. Unfortunately for him, things went South with the manufacturers, and he currently has no team. Now Spanish A-list movie star, Antonio Banderas is looking at fielding a 125 and 250 racing team for the Spanish and European races. He is trying to round up the €6 million required for a team, and if he can't manage that sum, he'll start with local Spanish 125 races. Now all we need is Brad Pitt and George Clooney to create motorcycle racing teams. They are both passionate motorcycle riders, and love the racing sport, so why not...? It can only be a good thing when celebs create motorcycle racing teams, everyone wins.
