Here's an interesting gadget that can be used easily and efficiently when riding a motorcycle. If you are like myself and have a remote controlled gate and even a garage door, you know that when you ride your motorcycle, you need to take all the remote controls with you. I have several copies of the zappers, but tend to always forget one when riding. You can off course tape them to your bike, but that's not a nice solution. But one gadget I always have with me, is my mobile phone. It's always in my pocket, so no matter what, I can always trust it's with me. So that's why the next gadget is pretty nifty. GateSlave is a product that is a gate remote opener, like millions of others. Except this one does not use a remote control, it uses your mobile phone. On its own, that makes it pretty interesting, since if you are like me and always have your phone with you, all you need to do is call your gate to open it. The gate will not answer, so there's no phone charge. It recognizes your phone number, and opens the gate. Simple! But to go one step further, on the GateSlave web site, you can program the phone numbers that are allowed to open the gate remotely. Not only can you give your SWMBOShe Who Must Be Obeyed access, and the mother-in-law, but you can also give temporary access to the gate, for example, when you have a contractor coming in for a few days, you just give them access on certain dates. After that, the access is withdrawn automatically. You could program that your mother-in-law can only come in on certain dates and times.... hmmmm. The gate also will notify you via SMS is the gate is being forced open, or kept open. Sounds like a pretty good gadget to me. Click here to read more about it (Thanks Ian)
