In Australia people are pawning off their TV sets, laptops and furniture in order to buy motorcycles and scooters. Sales of these PTWPowered Two Wheel - motorcyles, scooters, mopeds reached record highs last year, an increase of 3.2%, while the sales of cars, SUVs and trucks dropped 3.6%. According to Brisbane scooter dealer Joe D'Ercole "The main problem is that people can't get credit to buy a $2500 scooter. People are even selling off household items just to buy one." "The whole reason Vespa exists is that after World War II there was a credit crisis, mortgage issues and high fuel costs just like today," he said. So people would rather ride their motorcycle/scooter than watch TV... good on'em.
