ASO, the organizers of the famous Dakar race, have published the map and the contestants line-up for the 2010 edition. Despite the many trouble it had this year with downsizing the motorcycle engine capacity to 450cc for the professionals, the official withdrawal of KTM and their top riders, everything seems to be back in order. KTM is still omnipresent, and the big boys, Marc Coma, Cyril Despres, David Casteu, Jonah Street, Pal Ullevalseter, Jordi Viladoms, Frans Verhoeven and David Fretigne are all present and accounted for.

Though this year it would seem that there are less KTM motorcycles, they do still dominate the numbers. The 2010 edition sees many more Yamaha motorcycles, but also more BMW and even Aprilia, Sherco, Beta, Jincheng, Honda, Husqvarna and Husaberg. On the ladies side, Mirjam Pol and Annie Seel are present again.

As far as nationalities goes, they're coming from all over the world: France 37, Argentina 15, Spain 13, The Netherlands 11, Italy 11, Chile 8, Brazil 7, Portugal 6, UK 6, Czech Republic 5, Canada 4, Australia 4, Poland 3, Sweden 2, USA, 2, Slovakia 2, Serbia 2, Turkey 2, Belgium 2, Germany 2, Peru 2, China 2 and 1 rider for Norway, Slovenia, Uruguay, Ukraine, Guatemala, Ireland, Austria and Mexico.

The motorcycles will be riding 8,937 kilometers (the cars are going a bit further with 9,030 kms).
