Despite the tragic cancellation of the Dakar rally, the low cost but ever so exciting Heroes Legend rally is still on. In its 3rd edition, the rally is organized by multiple Dakar winner (motorcycle and car categories) and previous Dakar organizer, Hubert Auriol . This off road event, from Paris to Dakar, is still slated to continue. The Dakar itself was under menace by terrorist, not all events. Hence, the organizers of the rally are continuing with their efforts. The rally starts on the 8th of March from Paris, and if all goes well, will arrive in Dakar on the 22nd of March. The rally is not as gruelling as the Dakar, with a maximum of 500 km per day, but normally averaging 2-300 kms per day. All off-road motorcycles can participate, but to be able to ride in the "Classic" category, your motorcycles will have to have been built before 1995. There's also a category that enables motorcycles that aren't really off-road, but still want to ride in this event. You'll be riding on tarmac roads most of the time. You can also team up with another rider in case you find the distances to long. Registration fees are far more moderate compared to the Dakar. On a motorcycle, count about €4640. If you don't have a motorcycle, you can rent one. The rally is not like the Dakar were you are pushed to the limit. This is more fun, and easy going. Your chance to thumb your nose to the terrorists, and take part in a ride ending in Dakar. Click here to for information .
