It's rare that politicians understand things. Their reasoning is usually self-centered, clouded by judgements and biases. But in the throng of politicians it would seem that one actually understands things better than most.
The politician in question is Frenchwoman Dominique Voynet  , who is currently the Mayor of a large city in France, that of Montreuil  . Before being mayor she was the Minister of the Environment, and she is a key part of the Green party in France, a party that is doing very bad.
But even as a treehugger and member of the Green party, she is the only one who understands the use of motorcycles. In her younger years she used to ride motorcycles, and when she is in Paris for their many political meetings, she uses a motorcycle taxi.
But what is even more surprising, her official vehicle as Mayor of Montreuil is ...... a chauffeur driven scooter! That's right, she probably the only mayor of a city that has a Suzuki Burgman as official vehicle. According to interviews, she has stated that motorcycles are "smart". And this while her political party, the Green party's presidential candidate has said in her manifesto that cars and motorcycle should be severely reduced.
Interesting to see that someone who is high up the food chain in a party that does not like motorcycles, has embraced motorcycles as useful and fun.
