Tata Open link in a new window is one of those enormous conglomerates in India, with hundreds, if not thousands, of business interest in a wide domain. You may not know the name Tata, but maybe you know some of their companies: Jaguar cars, Land Rover, Daewoo Commercial Vehicle Company and of course their own brand, Tata Motors. Throw on top of that telecommunications, appliances, jewelry, hotels, food, airline, TV, financial services, etc. In other words, Tata is humongous.

Tata has just signed a multi-million, multi-year deal with Ducati Open link in a new window, where Tata's IT arm, TCS (Tata Consultancy Services), will deliver technology to the Italian motorcycle manufacturer, helping them improve customer responsiveness and business efficiency.

Tata Consultancy Services and Ducati's first project is improving the Supply Chain management, helping Ducati forecast and optimize production plans, and hopefully reduce costs.

Coincidence? Ducati CEO, Gabriele del Torchio, went to India to sign the Tata deal. But since he was there anyway, he also signed a deal for the first Ducati motorcycle dealership/showroom in the country. The first Ducati dealership will be in Mumbai this summer. Their dealer, Precision Motor, will open a Ducati showroom in every large city of India (Source: link).

To make matters even more "Indian", the Ducati CEO announced that he has asked the Lords of MotoGP to bring the circus to India.

So it must have been a good trip for Del Torchio?
