Like in any industry there are rumors, and there are facts. The facts spoke for themselves as manufacturers presented their new motorcycles. But there are also rumors and things one can suspect when you see certain things.... BMW & Brammo Several times when passing along the lanes of Eicma, I would walk past the Brammo stand. And every time there were senior people from BMW present, talking to Brammo staff. A lot of looking at their models and engines, and a lot of discussions. Here's a photo of David Robb, responsible for design at BMW, talking to Brian Wismann of Brammo. So is BMW looking at doing something with Brammo? Are they planning to use Brammo engine, or buying into the American company? Time will tell. Royal Enfield and Piaggio The same applied to Royal Enfield. When I went to their stand, there was a Piaggio person behind the counter. When I asked what Piaggio's involvement was, he stated that there was nothing official ... yet. Is Piaggio looking at expanding their product range, or is Royal Enfield looking at using Piaggio's distribution channels? Hero Motocorp One of world's largest motorcycle manufacturers is almost totally unknown in Europe. It's the Hero MotoCorp , formally known as Hero Honda of India. They had a very large stand in Eicma, and they are for sure looking at flooding the European market with cheap 125 and 200+ cc motorcycles. The stand they had there was to see what the reaction of the European public is. But for sure, we'll be seeing them in Europe shortly.
