Ducati Open link in a new window was one of the four motorcycle manufacturers who had planned the wild goose chase Monday in Milan, making us run around from one place to another, something I will not be repeating.

The Ducati presentation was held in a museum, and we were not allowed to enter before the specified time, meaning many of us had to hunt for internet cafes to try to file some stories and photos.

Everyone had to wait outside until we were finally allowed to enter, and even the rain did not prevent Ducati from letting us outside.

Eventually the room filled up, but of course way over time (which was good for Ducati since the next presentation was Honda, so the more they could take away from that press conference, the better for them... I guess).

Finally the show got on the road. Here we see a local Italian celebrity (don't ask me who) with the Ducati CEO Claudio Domenicali. After quite a long financial presentation (but not as long as the previous press conference), we got to the meat.

The new 1199 Superleggera motorcycle were rolled in. This is the new super light motorcycle that Ducati will be making in only 500 unit.

This is the motorcycle without the fairings so you can see the inside. The Superleggera weighs only 166 kgs wet with no fuel, thanks to use of titanium and carbon.

It develops over 200 hp.

The next "new" model that got rolled out was the Monster 1200.

The Monster 1200 is based on the now famous and classic Monster series of naked bikes, but this one is big, with an enormous engine. In its top version, you get 145 hp.

The question is why would Ducati keep making the Streetfighter???

Finally, Claudio had his photo taken with Walter de Silva, Head of the Volkswagen Design Group (as you may know, Volkswagen owns the company that owns the company that owns Ducati). Walter had previously exalted the Italian design skills and passion.

And that wraps up the Ducati press presentation. More will follow from Ducati over the next few days.

NOTE: This article was supposed to appear Monday night, but my "hotel"'s wifi is not working and there is NO staff.
