As found on Gizmodo; - looks like cars aren't the only vehicles going electrical; electric powered motorcycles have for some time been available for those that needed to ride in town, over short distances. Now, here's an electrical motorcycle suited for off-road riding; the Blade .04 ! The Blade motorcycle weighs 165 pounds and has a top speed of 40 mph ! On their website, the manufacturer compares the Blade .04 with the Honda XR250. The interesting statistic is the acceleration speed of the Blade; 4.1 seconds for the Honda's 4.5 seconds (for 30 mph !). Not fast for normal motorcycles, but for small off-road bikes, not bad at all. Off-road, with a full charge, the motorcycle should be very interesting considering that the weight is low, and you're not making any noise. Obviously the important part of the motorcycle is the battery. Fast charging takes according to the manufacturer 30 minutes for a full charge. However, nowhere on the website, nor in their documentation, could I find approximately how long you could ride with the motorcycle on a full charge. If anyone has one, could you let us know how long ?? The other interesting fact is the cost of, for example, the rear tire. The Blade's rear tire costs $ 40, while the Honda's costs $100 ! Basic Purchase Price: $ 4,699. Not cheap but sufficiently interesting if you like going off-road and you're ecological friendly. This even allows you to ride in your backyard without the neighbors complaining ! Click here to visit the manufacturer's web site.
