Although it looks very much like a car coming from a cartoon show, the Tango T600 electric car is for real ! Produced by Commuter Cars Corporation, the Tango is a cross between a motorcycle, a car, a scooter and a whatever you can think off. And the best is, it's electrical. The Tango has several choices in terms of battery power, all resulting in different top speeds (up to 150 mph - 240 kph), distance (up to 150 miles - 240 km) and acceleration (0-60 mph in 4 seconds !!). The 200 amp charging station can charge up to 80% of a full charge in 10 minutes, giving you about 50 miles distance. The full charge will take about 3 hours. With those performance specs, you can keep up with anything else on the road. The car itself is 39″ (99 cm) wide, 8′5″ ( 2m50) long, and 60″ (152 cm) tall. It's a two seater, with the driver sitting in front of the pillion passenger. So it's very much like a covered motorcycle. Since it's only 39" wide, you should be able to split lanes (filter), but somehow, I think the other "cars" will not agree. You can park the Tango like you would park a motorcycle, saving valuable real estate space on the roads. The Tango is built like a tank; more steel than a Volvo, but with a CoG that is as low as a Porsche, meaning it'll corner like nothing else ! That's all good news. Now for the bad news: PRICE ! It's expensive since it's still in prototype stage. If you want one of the prototypes, clear your bank account for $100,000. Ouch ! And that's for a kit ! The T200 and T100 will cost "less", around $31,000 and $18,000. All-in-all, this looks like a really nice electrical and ecological vehicle. All the benefits of electrical, speed from sportscars and dimensions of a motorcycle. A marriage made in heaven ? Click here to access their website.
