Brammo Motorsports is an American company founded in 2002 to produce speciality vehicles. One of their products that will hit the market next year is an electric motorcycle called Enertia . We've seen other electric motorcycles (like the American Blade {link}, Electricross {link} and the Swiss Quantya {link}), but they're motocross motorcycles. The Enertia is a mass produced street motorcycle that shows great potential. The Enertia is a 275 pounds electric motorcycle, using 6 Valence Lithium Phosphate batteries. The top speed is 50 mph, and you get a decent range of about 45 miles. Not enough to go RTW, but more than enough for the average daily commute (in the US, the average commute is 27 miles). On top of that, you can fully recharge the batteries in 3 hours by plugging the motorcycle into a standard wall socket. So if your commute is 40 miles one-way, just plug it in at the office during the day. You can accelerate from 0-30 mph in 3.8 seconds, not a Hayabusa performance but more than decent for around town. The motorcycle is not what you'd use to commute on the freeway, but around town, it should be more than decent. Personally, I'm very eager to see electric motorcycles like the Enertia, since I'm a firm believer in the future of electric motorcycles. They're not cheap (the standard version will cost you US$ 11,995), but over time, prices will start becoming more and more interesting. A mass produced electric motorcycle is the future, and I for one hope to see these appearing in Europe. Need a test rider ? Click here to read much more about the motorcycle
