The Association of European Motorcycle Manufacturers, ACEM , have released the registrations and deliveries statistics for motorcycles and other PTWPowered Two Wheel - motorcyles, scooters, mopeds in Europe for 2011. During 2011, a total of 1.720.948 motorcycles and scooters were delivered throughout Europe (a total of 32 countries, which is most of Europe minus Lichtenstein and Iceland), compared to 2010 when they sold 1.889.56 PTWs. The top 5 countries in terms of motorcycle registrations for 2011: | Country | 2011 | 2010 | | France | 331.260 | 376.060 | | Italy | 329.026 | 408.873 | | Germany | 181.865 | 187.232 | | Turkey | 179.746 | 108.385 | | Spain | 141.136 | 169.446 | No surprise that the warmest countries, except Germany, are in the top 5. All of them show less registrations in 2011 over 2010, a sign of the depression? The only countries that saw an increase in the deliveries were Turkey, Malta, Latvia and Lithuania. ACEM estimate that in 34 countries in Europe, a total of 37.4 million PTWs are riding on the roads. Click here to see all the ACEM statistics (Adobe Acrobat file)
