I'm having problems naming the titles, so I'm calling this Day 1 AM part 1, so you understand that there's more coming. Today started with us (that's me and 2 from Fiat Yamaha team Open link in a new window) driving to the Expo center in Le Mans to get our access cards. And yes, before you have to ask, we were driving a Fiat car. What else?

The passes are held off the circuit, for obvious reasons, so the expo center was the ideal place for them to have press and VIP visitors come and pick up their precious passes.

On one side was the "privileged" motorcycle parking... an don the other side:

The Expo center where all the admin action is.

Inside are several booths, for the teams, for the VIPs, the press, etc... anyone who needs access.

Outside, motorcycles were streaming in, into a "special" park... ie... VIPs on Bikes.

Then it was a 1 minute drive to the main entrance of the Le Mans Circuit.

Along the way are many tents and stands from various vendors.

Motohome city... where anyone from the staff  who didn't get a hotel room sleeps. ..

Part of the circuit. That view will change shortly, when there are 1000's of spectators, and motorcycle racing along.

I'd say that sign is a bit OTT...I mean, racers go ATGATT don't they?

Let's count the number of check points. We had one at the gate when we drove in. After parking, we got this check point.

Followed by the check point. Notice they use barcode readers.

... and the final check point, when you enter the hospitality area. There's obviously people who will make sure you are in the correct hospitality car, but those aren't official.

.. and here's Tiziana Di Gioia from the Fiat Yamaha team Open link in a new window in front of the team's hospitality area.

.. and the left side.

And the final shot of this series is the most important person in the hospitality area:

.... the man (Antonio)  who makes the coffee! You can't imagine how important and popular the guy is..
