MotoGP isn't only high performance motorcycles zooming around a circuit at a million miles per hour. Race teams, like Fiat Yamaha team , and all the others, not only invest millions and millions of dollars into the latest technology race motorcycle, they also invest in very simple 50cc scooters and small displacement motorcycles. The small scooters are the most visible when one of the racers goes down and crashes his motorcycle, and the only way back to the pits is as a pillion on one of these scoots. That's when you see them on TV. But they are everywhere! The scooters are used by all staff, photographers, organizers, security, even cleaners, since the distances are enormous, and walking them just takes too much time. So each team and organization has a small fleet of scooters, while some have "almost-motorcycles", and one even has electric motorcycles from Quantya . Here are some of the scooters I've seen parked. There's even one with a celebrity on it..... The gentleman on the scooter is Luc Alphand , former downhill and Super-G ski world champion, and winner of the 2006 Dakar rally (in a car, but he wants to do it on a motorcycle, but his insurance company will not let him). There you go, an electric Quantya motorcycle.
