Eco Enduro 2009
With perfect timing, when the world is meeting in Copenhagen Click for map to discuss the environment, in the same country (Denmark), in a joint initiative the Danish Motor Union, FIM and the United Nations, the very first Eco Enduro Open link in a new window will be held, starting on 11 December and ending on the 13th.

This motorcycle enduro is limited to electric motorcycles, and will be held like a normal enduro, with two stages on different kind of terrain. However, on the last day (13 December), a Super Motard race will be held on a small circuit close to Copenhagen. This will allow conference participants to see the electric motorcycles in action.

Vito Ippolito, FIM President said: “As the world governing body for motorcycle sport, the FIM is pleased and proud to support this event that will be held close to Copenhagen for the first two days and in the centre of the city on Sunday 13 December. The FIM Ride Green Eco Enduro that will take place during the United Nations Climate Change Conference will boost exposure to this great initiative organised by passionate and motivated people and show the world that motorcycling is moving fast to prepare its future. From a sporting point of view, we will be able to demonstrate that electric motorcycles can run an Enduro event which will be stimulating for our people to shape the future of the sport. The FIM wants to thank the organisers and the DMU and wishes good luck to all the participants!

The list of participants is impressive (39 participants), including several big Dakar riders (a.o. David Casteu, Pål Anders Ullevålseter, Luca Manca and even Annie Seel), or names like Joel Smets and Fabien Planet. All electric motorcycles are Quantya apart from one Zero.
