There are many shop, hotel and restaurant label networks around, from the prestigious Michelin Guides to simpler trekking guides. Web based "seals" like Tripadvisor are also becoming more and more popular as well. When you enter a shop, restaurant or hotel you are often faced with 10's of stickers honoring the establishment from whatever seal of approval it has received. So what would one more mean?

In this case, the "seal" is that of an organization that sells electric vehicles and electric charging points. The company, Nouvel-Espace-Mobilite Open Nouvel-Espace-Mobilite link in a new window, has created a label which is interesting and could become something we will see more and more in the future.

Any shop, restaurant or hotel that offers its clients an electrical recharge point (cars, motorcycles and/or bicycles) will receive the label, and will be incorporated in their network. This means that if you are a proud owner of an EV, you can more easily plan your more longer distance outing, knowing that when you go shopping or eating, there will be an establishment that will allow you to recharge your vehicle.

eTablissement Branche Seal

The label above plays nicely on a French word, since "Branche" means plugged in, but also means popular. It costs the establishment €30 per year.

It's a very good idea, something that could be great internationally, but so far as I can read, it's currently in limited areas in France. But hopefully something like this will be come a more universal seal of approval, a bit like the Michelin stars, allowing EV users/owners to go further than they can nowadays.

Of course most of these charging points can be found on ChargeMap.com, or on their smartphone app. Click here to access the Chargemap EV charging points. That is where you have a map of Europe and all its public charging points, plus descriptive of the type of charges.
