That there have been all-female motorcycle endurance teams is no news. There are quite a lot of them, and there are more and more. Why not? Women riders are as good a male riders, so why not race 24 hour races?
But this French all-female team has a twist, a serious twist. With two Suzuki GSXR race motorcycles entered , the female team manager is Agnes Dupuy (winner of many endurance races). Steffie Naud, Amandine Creusit and Caroline Locussol are 3 of the 4 members of this female racing team. And the 4th racer?????
This is where the serious twist comes into play... the 4th player is Erika Jeannot. Erika used to be Erik Jeannot. That's right, Erika is a transexual! He used to race as a guy, he even did quite good in several endurance races. But now he's racing as a woman.
The sponsor is even organizing a debate evening with as central theme "Are you for or against transexual racers in competitions?".
Interesting development.... this should make the 24 hours of Le Mans a bit more interesting. What do you think? Should a transexual be allowed to race for the "other" side?
