Although not as bad at the previous year, 2010 did not do well for motorcycle sales in France. A total of 185,609 new motorcycles were sold during the year, down by 7.2% over the previous year (which was already down 15.8% over 2008). If you look at the graph, it's just plain sad. Note: These sales figures do not include the popular Piaggio MP3 and others, since they are considered 3 wheelers, not motorcycles. The MP3 was sold 11,479 times. The Japanese manufacturers still hold on to the majority share of the market, with a combined total of 51.1% of the 2010 sales. The top 10 motorcycle & scooter sales for 2010 was (the blue figures are scooters): 1. Yamaha 125 Xmax - 9,187 2. Kawasaki Z 750 - 5,338 3. Kawasaki ER-6 - 4,223 4. Honda PCX 125 - 4,117 5. Peugeot Satelis 125 - 4,067 6. Piaggio X Evo 125 - 3,857 7. Yamaha XJ 600 - 3,854 8. Yamaha 500 Tmax - 3,692 9. Yamaha YBR 125 - 3,406 10 Suzuki 125 Burgman - 3,3324 So, altogether, it's not looking good. Manufacturers and dealers are being hurt with the economic crisis. On the other side, car manufacturers are doing just great. With the government scrapage aid, the are selling cars like croissants. If only there was a better help from the French government...
