This is a police ticket I would like to receive. Unlike previous repression programs by the French authorities, this one is positive. In the Essone "departement" (=state) in France, the police will be rewarding 50 drivers (and riders) with a €50 gasoline voucher for those that have been respecting the rules of the road and safety during the next four weekends when France Inc. goes on their summer holidays. During the next 4 weekends, almost all of France takes to their cars, caravans and motorcycles and head South for their vacation. Usually, the scenes are incredible, with enormous traffic jams, heated up exchanges between drivers, and drivers loosing patience. Usually, the cops are out in large numbers trying to catch the bad drivers, but now, they are also on the lookout for good drivers, and the lucky ones will get free fuel... The cops will be looking for those on the RN20 road that have their seat belt on, people who don't use their cell phone while driving, use their indicators, drive with the proper distance between vehicles and generally follow all the road rules and signs. Great idea. Now if the rest of France would follow this example.
