According to the blog site of the French motorcycle taxis (see above via: line), it would appear that Honda France, as off this year, will no longer honor warrantees on Honda Goldwing motorcycles that are used as motorcycle taxi. They will comply with legal warrantee work, ie hidden and known problems, but any mechanical or electrical problem due to heavy wear & tear, will apparently not be paid for by Honda. Despite an enormous price tag, the Honda Goldwing is the favorite workhorse for French motorcycle taxis, due to its comfort and handling. But the Goldwing was designed for long winding roads, going from one city to another. Not for riding in a traffic jam packed capital city. These bikes are used almost 24 hours per day, stopping & going all the time. So no wonder the bikes start developing problems. And it would seem that Honda France has had enough for now.. The other motorcycle used by the French taxis, is in fact a scooter, the Suzuki 650 Burgman. Apparently there are less problems with these, and so far Suzuki France has not shown that it will renege on their warrantees. Interesting dilemma for Honda. It's great for their image being the main tool for motorcycle taxis, but it would seem that the bike was not made for its heavy duty, which is bad for its image.
