Michelin is not known just for its tires. They are also very famous for their excellent maps, tourist guides (Green Guide ) and their restaurants guides (Red Guide ). In other words, they know how to put a guide together, inspect the establishments and report it in their books. Michelin now have a special guide for motorcycle riders who ride in France. Called "80 Virees a Moto", meaning "80 motorcycle routes", this 544 page publication is stuffed with information on the nicest itineraries to ride with your motorcycle. Each of the 80 itinerary has a roadbook, restaurants, hotels, sights, camping, etc. They list important information, such as where you can safely park your motorcycle overnight, and what danger points you may encounter. Additionally, you can get extra information on their website, including printable roadbooks for the itineraries. The guide is divided into 4 major regions of France; North East, South East, South West, North West. On the downside, the guide is currently only available in French. but, if you're planning on a trip to France on your motorcycle, this guide is going to be as important as the Red Guide is for gastronomic tourists. I already envisage people crossing off itineraries, going from one to the next, like people do with the Red Guide. Who knows, maybe they start a star system rating the rides, just like their restaurant guide. Michelin have a special email address for bikers to send in their favorite routes. On their ViaMichelin website, they have an area where you can publish and share your roadbooks.
