For years now, the French Angry Bikers Association(FFMC  ) has been pleading with the government to place horizontal planks at the bottom of the crash barriers. A motorcycle rider who gets ejected on the road, will slide into the unprotected poles of the crash barriers, often killing them on the spot, and even worse, decapitating them. The government, despite many promises has been very slow in rolling out protective planks.

But maybe now they'll listen. A police officer from the elite Republican Guard (the ones that escort the President and other VIPs) was doing a recon mission with two other officers, when (for an unknown reason) one of the riders fell of his motorcycle and hit the crash barrier at the unprotected part, killed on the spot. The reason is unknown, however, the weather was very bad (heavy rain), and they might have hit an oil spot, or possibly speeding.

Will it take the unfortunate death of a police officer for the government to get their collective heads out of collective holes-where-the-sun-doesn't-shine and do something about dangerous part of motorways? I hope the death of a fellow biker was not in vein vain.
