The usual Relais Motards Calmos, motorcycle rest places (for those of you who need to ride long distance, and need a place to calm down, tank up, re-energize or just meet up with fellow bikers), will be present before and after the Bol d'Or Open link in a new window motorcycle 24 hours endurance race held at the Magny-Cours Nevers Click for map circuit.. (see the related articles below to see what a Relais Calmos looks like). Remember, it is the last time the race is held here, from next year, it'll be at the Paul Ricard circuit in the South.

Some rest stops offer food, drinks, mechanics, massage or even sleeping arrangements. This service is offered, mostly for free, by the French Government and the FFMCFederation Francaise des Motards en Colere - Angry French Biker Association, an association of bikers fighting for the rights of motorcycle riders. The rest stops are usually very well indicated on the roads leading to the rest stop. Keep a look out for signs saying "Relais Calmos".

Here are the 10 (there are 9, but the last ones are in a different place, one for going, the other for the return trip) motorcycle rest stops (called Relais Calmos Motards) for the Bol D'Or race held on the weekend of 26-27 April 2014.

Saturday, April 17th, 2010 - France: A Closer Look At A Relais Calmos - Motorcycle Rest Place

Relais Calmos 27
A closer look at one motorcycle rest place, the "Relais Motard Calmos" put in place for the 24 Hours of Le Mans motorcycle race.

It was a small one, but between 500 and 1,000 bikers were expected on Saturday alone. Paid for my the French government, the rest area is a great place to meet up, repair your bike, inflate tires, drink coffee, eat, and all that for free!
