The French government has fallen in love with radars. Not to stop people from speeding on the roads, but for the incredible amount of money they make. It's one of the main reasons the vast majority of radars can be found on the motorways, despite the fact that motorways are the safest roads to ride your motorcycle on. Country roads which see the most accidents will have a radar posted only every 1000 kms.

But most radars in France are rear facing, in other words they make a photo of the rear of the vehicle. But with the license point system, the government also needs to see who was driving, so now they are going to be putting out radars that will make photos front AND rear.

And that makes a enormous problem for us motorcycle riders. We managed to escape a lot of speeding tickets, but now it's going to be impossible.

And to make sure the government takes an expensive picture of you, they are looking at lowering the speed limits. Lower speeds, more money in the government piggy bank?
