	France: New Location Type For Radars Cameras 23 June 2010   File under  France   Author: Mike Werner   Location: Normandy, France Police are placing radar cameras anywhere they can in order to maximize their revenue. Speed radars are common every where, from motorways to small country roads. Recently, red light cameras have started appearing in any big city, and they will continue to spread like the Asian Bird Flu. The latest location the authorities have decided to place radars is at railroad crossings. In the North of France, Picardie region , the first camera was placed at a railroad crossing. This one sees some 12,500 cars and motorcycles pass through it everyday, and according to their observations, of the 80 times the barriers closed, 60 vehicles passed through anyway, ignoring the flashing lights. Around 100 of these cameras will be installed by 2012. Getting caught by one of these new cameras, will cost you a €135 fine and you'll forfeit 4 points on your license. Obviously, placing barriers makes no sense. They cost money, and bring nothing into the empty coffers of the government. Jackpot.
