Not all politicians are against motorcycles, though many of them are. We've already told you about the scooter-riding Minister of Culture Frederic Mitterrand (and nephew of the late French President Mitterand). But there are some other motorcycle riding politicians out there, and probably the most notable of them is Christian Estrosi , the current French Minister of Industry. Christian Estrosi not only loves motorcycles, he used to race them professionally. That's right, he was a professional MotoGP racer in all classes, 250, 350 and 500cc. He started racing motorcycles in 1972, progressed to MotoGP in 1976 and raced until 1983. He never won a race, but did receive many race points, and even managed to get one pole position. He also finished 2nd in the 1974 Bol d'Or endurance race. Estrosi even at one time owned a motorcycle shop/garage. He still rides motorcycles, and was last seen in Legends race in 2009 (source ) Estrosi is currently the Minister of Industry, and the Mayor of Nice. One of his more notable attempts to change the French law was when he tried to change the speed limit from 130 kph to 150 kph, which unfortunately failed. So maybe Valentino Rossi could become Prime Minister of Italy.....
