The French President, Nicolas Sarkozy, is not too happy with the Minister of Culture and Communication, Frederic Mitterrand. As we had previously reported {link}, Mitterrand (the nephew of the former President Francois Mitterrand) is a practical man, and getting through the Paris traffic involves him getting on his scooter and lane splitting his way to work, like millions of other Parisians do everyday. But this winter was not like any normal winter, with heavy snow and ice making the roads of the French capital, into an ice rink. But that didn't stop the Minister from riding his scooter. However, it went wrong, and he fell, crashing his motorcycle, and hurting his shoulder. Nothing that a few days bandaged up, 2 aspirins and some whiskey will not cure.

He further declared that the Minister had a chauffeur driven limo, so why not use it? As usual, politicians speak in double tongues. Sarkozy on one side has been making a beeline to the ecology movement, making out to be the world champion for all things green, but on the other hand, will not let one of his Ministers, who is brave enough to ride a PTWPowered Two Wheel - motorcyles, scooters, mopeds using a lot less fuel and CO2 than any government fleet limo, use a perfectly acceptable form of transportation. Good on Frederic Mitterrand, sticking to your guns and riding a scooter instead of a limo. Bad on Nicolas Sarkozy for telling one of his popular Ministers to stop riding a motorcycle (and for calling it a moped). No class, no sense of humor.
