Planning and intelligence is not something you'll find in abundance with civil servants, at least here in France. A bunch of them are testing a new road-sign and billboard system, called Systeject, that according to the authorities, will save motorcycle rider lives. Even the Prime Minister says so... Though well meaning, the system is anything but life-saving. The Systeject system is a system that snaps in two when crashed into. So instead of a very rigid pole with a road-sign or information panel on it, the pole snaps in two when crashed into. So far so good, and interesting for us bikers. But then you find out that the system was designed to snap in two when a car crashes into it, not the body of a biker. So the system may save the lives of a few car drivers (though they are in pretty solid cages), but it's not going to save our bodies. Better that they concentrate in changing the crash barriers, as they've been promising over the years... this system is anything but good for us motorcycle riders. Back to the drawing board.
