Garmin have released the latest version of their motorcycle-specific GPS, the Zumo 350LM. In fact, it's a bit disappointing to see that there has not been much evolution, but then again, how much more can you put on a motorcycle GPS? One of the new features is an incorporated service log. You can now record the dates you had your motorcycle serviced, mileage and what was done. I know there are other devices that do it, like smartphones, but if you use your GPS a lot, it could be a handy feature. Another change for the Zumo is the screen; the updated screen technology allows you to read what's on the screen even when there is a nova burst right behind you, ie, a strong sun behind you shining directly on your screen. The unit is rain proof (IPX7 ), and can be managed with a glove (ie the touchscreen can be "touched" with a glove). It has further more a Bluetooth communication feature, allowing you to use one of the many Bluetooth communication devices for motorcycle helmets (Cardo, Sena, Interphone, etc) to receive wireless instructions. You can get a "life long" map update service, with "life long" limited to a series of conditions, but in essence it'll last as long as your device is working and store the updates. The rechargeable battery will last 7 hours of non-stop usage. If you need more, there's a power cable to plug into your bike's 12V system. The new Zumo 350LM does NOT offer: 3D views, voice activation/commands (strange, since it would be useful when connected via Bluetooth), route prediction and eco-route (navigates the most fuel efficient route). Price: US$699.99 Availability: 3rd Quarter 2012 Click here for more info or to buy on the Garmin Zumo 350LM
