Filling motorcycle with petrol
As we all know, and feel, gas prices are the highest they have ever been. No matter where you live, which country, you'll be paying through the nose just to be able to take a spin on your motorcycle.

But, it's not really everywhere in the world! At motorcycle blog site "Keep The Rubber Side Down" Open link in a new window (MBI member Open link in a new window), they produced a table of the gallon price around the world.

The USA is in the middle of the price range, with Venezuela charging 4% what Americans must pay, while on the other side of the spectrum is Denmark, charging 279% more!

In France, according to the table, we're paying 240% more than the US.

So stop complaining about your gas price...if not, move to Venezuela or Iran....Crazy Smiley

They left out Ecuador, where it is USD$0.25 per gallon.

I think that if you adjust prices to take into account inflation, prices in real terms are still lower than they were at the peak of the OPEC crisis, though not by much.

    Gas Companies

And you know what's even more sad about the crazy high gas prices? Aboslute RECORD profits for Oil companies last year:

"Exxon Mobil and Shell both posted astonishing results in 2007 - Exxon's $40.6 billion setting a US corporate record, and Shell's $27.6 billion an unsurpassed result for a European company."

Yeah, it's incredible if you think about it. Goes for other companies that are making record profits but still closing shops everywhere, just so they can look good for their stockholders, and get nice bonuses....

What really irks me about the high gas prices is that the oil companies cheat the consumers by watering gas with cheap, subsidized ethanol, and even pretend to care for the environment.

The higher ethanol content tends to cause problems with older carburated bikes. I haven't noticed anything other than the fact I seem to have more and more water in the tank (ethanol attracts water) because I use a relatively new carb (ethanol might have had a role in the old one's failure) but I've heard it from other classic bike owners.
