Judges usually don't use common sense, and getting one that actually understands what it's all about, and doesn't toe the party line are very rare. Such an illuminated judge in Germany cancelled 42 motorcycle and car speeders who had been caught by a speed radar. According to the 62 year old judge, Helmut Knoner, the speed cameras "are a total fraud". He was of the opinion that the speed cameras are there only to make money for the government, not to make the roads safer. The laws have changed over the years, permitting the government to make a photo of you without your consent, but that law was put in place to stop terrorists, not to catch speeders. He strongly disagreed with the practice, and threw the speeding offenses out of court. Too bad judges like this guy are rare.
