Motorcycle riders beware! If you plan to ride your motorcycle, specially if you plan to speed, stay away from the city of Kulmbach on April 24 & 25 2010. You'll give it a wide birth if you know what's good for you. Why? Because some 50,000 motorcycles and their riders will be attending a gathering, but what's more important, is that most of these are going to be police officers! Organized by the Bavarian Ministry of the Interior (the ones responsible for the cops), the Police HQ, the City of Kulmbach, and funnily enough, the Kulmbach Beer Brewery. There are a couple of inconsistencies .... the event is held at the Kulmbach Brewery and the event motto is "Arrive Alive" (well, I guess that works, it's what happens after you arrive that worries me). The organizers are the Brewery and the police department - is that a first or what? During the event, the Bavarian Police and Instructors association will be giving demonstrations of their riding talents. Also, manufacturers like BMW, Ducati and Kawasaki will be present to show off their latest developments. There will also be accessory merchants present, allowing people to buy gear on the spot. Obviously, a beer garden holding 5,000 seats is organized, and lots of other food and drink will be available. The police international motorcycle club/association, The Blue Knights Germany , even have a commemorative patch available.... So, it's not the place to speed....
