If you are in the proud possession of an iPhone 5 you know that most accessories available on the market didn't really follow Apple's new charging plugs. This goes even more for iPhone 5 holders for motorcycles. iPhones 4 or older have plenty of choice, but iPhone 5 has fewer, and the selections not that good (I'm on my 3rd, all others were useless).

Givi S955

Italian accessory manufacturer Givi Open link in a new window have recently released a nice looking and practical iPhone 5 holder, the S955 Open S955 link in a new window. It's not only rain proof (with the supplied rain cover), but has a sturdy and usable sunscreen, zippers to open and close, a transparent cover that can be used even with gloves on and Givi have their own mounting system, so not a RAM mount system.

Givi S955

Personally, I have not tried out the Givi mounting system, and I would want to be 100% sure that it withstands vibrations, but it looks easy to set up.

My colleagues at the French site L'Equipement Open L'Equipement in a new window did have a go, and found apart from that everything looks and feels pretty good, that the only down side of the S955 is that the cable entry is way too big, and they are afraid of water creeping in (click on the Via: below for their test in French).

If you have an iPhone 4 or older, try the S954.

Price: around €46
