Just to prove the recently published study that women are more hard core motorcycle riders than men (link Open link in a new window), here's an interesting story coming from Canada.

Joni Miles, a 72 year old (young?) great-grandmother of 2, grandmother of 13 and mother of 6 from White Rock, Canada, six years ago got rid of her husband and got herself a motorcycle.

She had been dating a fellow biker, and been on his motorcycle riding as a pillion, but as Joni said "then I decided I didn’t want to be on the back, I wanted to be on the front".

So in 2003 she went out and got herself a small Yamaha Virago (250cc). She didn't have a license, so her son had to ride it home. After getting her license, she's been riding it ever since. She even joined a "over 60+ biker club" as the only female biker..

Her dearest wish is to have a pink Harley-Davidson with matching pink helmet, but one thing is sure, she loves riding her motorcycle. In the mean time, she has traded down from her Yamaha 650 V-Star, back to her original Virago.

"I will ride for as long as I can hold a bike up" Joni said. What a gal! Like the other older women who started riding (link Open link in a new window).

Who says when you get old you're life is over. Not these girls.
