The announcement has been made, it's official: Harley Davidson and MV Agusta are getting married. But is it a shot gun wedding? I've been seeing the rumors flying over the last few weeks about a merger, but just couldn't believe it. How wrong was I....
The rumored Harley and Ducati made a bit more sense, but MV Agusta? Harley Davidson is having financial problems at this moment, and buying another company that is close to bankruptcy does not make sense to me. Could Agusta be the ball & chain, or the straw that broke the camel's back?
All MV Agusta gives Harley is a foothold in Europe, but as a foothold, Harley has a larger one already in Europe. So why...??? At least the purchase also includes Cagiva, which makes things more interesting for Harley, and would seem a better match.
Can someone tell me why this has happened. Is this beyond my paygrade, or is this an emotional buy?
