Here Are Some Of The 2014 April Fool Jokes Played

Many motorcycle sites and magazines play April 1st jokes on their readers. Even on this site there was a "1st of April joke".... the article that cars were going to have to do 80 kph on secondary roads, and motorcycles will be limited to 60 kph was a half-truth (so a half-joke). All vehicles will probably be limited to 80 kph, something most associations and lobby groups are dead set against. But I am rambling about politics again.

The joke was in the 60 kph for motorcycles (and at least one other site swallowed it hook, line and sinker - link Open link link in a new window).

Anyway, here are some of the April Fool jokes I've found around the world:

France flag
The French Moto Journal print magazines came out with a story that the Paris ring road (Boulevard Peripherique) would be used for a future TT motorcycle race.
Very far fetched knowing how anti-motorcycle the City Hall is, but the magazine had the route and a lot of details.

Italy flag
Italian Omni-Motor made it known that when he was young, the current Pope used to ride a Harley, and he therefore received an honorary membership to the Hells Angles.

Spain flag
Spanish SoyMotero claimed that Casey Stoner is going to compete in the Circuit of Americas (COTA) MotoGP race in the USA on an Open Honda MotoGP motorcycle because he is bored.

Le Repaire April Joke

France flag
French Le Repaire des Motards came up with an article that the French government has decided to fight recurring motorcycle speeders with an onboard GPS chip that will record the bike's speeds. If the biker does not speed in the three years following  his/her conviction, the chip will be removed.

Italy flag
The Italian motorcycle coordination site mentioned that the Italian government is looking at banning motorcycle with excess of 80 horsepower from the cities streets. They even want to double to tolls on their motorways for motorcycles with more than 80 hp.

The Netherlands flag
Motorcycle racing site, MotoMatters, announced that with the upcoming withdrawal of Red Bull from the F1 world, they would outright buy the MotoGP series. In fact, only the F1 withdrawal is pretty imminent.

USA flag
Basem at About Motorcycles tells us that the US government after mandating that cars will become autonomous, it'll be motorcycle's turn by 2018. So your motorcycle will ride you, not the other way round.

Romania flag
Romanian Autoevolution makes us believe that Pata is going to make 1 liter bikes to be used only by sons of successful Superbike racers, showing that it's a question of genes. The smaller, the faster....

Caskopter April Fool

France flag
French accessory site La Becanerie is proposing a special propeller equipped helmet that will allow you to fly over traffic jams, like a helicopter. Who knows... maybe one day...

Yamaha Cardboard

French motorcycle print magazine Moto Revue shows a new very low cost Yamaha destined for the really poor countries that can not afford even 1000 for a motorcycle.

Australian Helmet Number Plate

Australia flag
Australian print magazine Australian Motorcycle News put on their Facebook page a posting that the Victorian government in Australia is to place motorcycle license plate numbers on the biker's helmets

Redleg's Rides in the USA mocked up a Washington Post page telling us that John Kerry is starting an Embargo on the Russian Ural motorcycle. And it's believable

Northwest Harley blog mentioned that Harley-Davidson's BOOM Audio infotainment system installed on many Harleys has a virus that will change music while riding.

French Moto-Station published a "spy" photo of a 2 liter V8 that would be available this year for motorcycles, developing 160 hp

Czech Republic flag
Czech site Moto Denik makes its readers believe that the Czech army is ordering these amphibious motorcycles, combing both Army and Navy units

RR Chinese Cover

USA flag
American magazine RoadRunner announced that they were now publishing a Mandarine Chinese version of their travel & touring motorcycle magazine. And this to correct the trade imbalance.

American vintage/classic motorcycle site The Vintagent is claiming that Royal Enfield has bought Vincent motorcycle, or at least the name and plan to manufacturer the classic motorcycle within a year.

Aerostich, known for their great April Fool jokes, released a press release with their latest product: a software app for your iPhone that turns your iPhone into a motorcycle sidestand plate, ensuring it will not sink into sand or gravel; Funny.
